What if you know you have outgrown your life, but not where to start?

Why change stalls, and what your body is actually saying.

What if you know you have outgrown your life, but not where to start?

Maybe you have tried before. Maybe it did not work, and it left you feeling like you had failed at something everyone else seems to manage.

Last week I wrote that nothing is ever lost. That includes the attempts that did not work. They were not failures. They were information about what your system was not ready to hold yet.

You are not a failure. You are not less than.

The most common limiting belief I meet is I am not enough. It is universal. Not culture, gender, race or age specific. And the reason so many of us carry it is not weakness, it is that we have never built a solid relationship with ourselves. Nothing to be critical of. Nothing to be embarrassed about. It took me a very long time to get here, and I would not have it any other way.

If you are willing to see life through the lens of experiences happening for you rather than to you, everything changes. Not the events. Your relationship to them.

Why change stalls after you start

The fear of failure and the fear of success are the same thing in the body. Both say the same sentence: it is not safe to hold this yet. One is afraid of losing what you have. The other is afraid of becoming someone you do not yet know how to be. And your nervous system, which is only ever trying to keep you alive, will choose the familiar every time.

That safety lives at the base of your spine. It is not a metaphor. It is a pathway, and it can be rewired.

Last week I said that regulation is really perspective. This is where perspective starts. At the base, with a body settled enough to see the whole picture rather than only the next threat.

Here is the part I find genuinely hopeful. Your brain is not fixed. It builds pathways through repetition, and it can build new ones the same way. That is neuroplasticity, and that is what makes this exciting: it means you can create the change you want, and the more you lean into self love, the easier that change becomes to embody.

The catch is that you cannot usually think your way into a new pathway, because the old one was not built by thinking. It was built by experience, often young, often before you had words for it.

Which is where scent comes in, and it is not a nice extra

Smell is the only sense that bypasses the brain's filtering centre. Everything you see and hear gets routed and processed first. Scent goes almost directly to the parts of the brain that handle emotion and memory. It is why a smell can put you back in your grandmother's kitchen faster than any photograph. That direct line is what makes it useful: it reaches the system underneath the story, the one holding the fear in place, without having to negotiate with the mind first.

This is the work I have just finished training in. Aromatic Kinesiology® uses the body's own responses to find what is actually holding the pattern, and then works with essential oils to shift it. Not a fragrance. A diagnostic. Your body chooses, not me, which is what makes it so hard to argue with.

This weekend I completed the deepest level of that training. Three days on addiction, negative self talk and grief. Last week I told you addiction was in my house while I was holding a demanding corporate role, and that I was not coping with either as well as I looked like I was. So this material was not theoretical for me. Learning a genuinely gentle way to move through it has been one of the most empowering things I have done.

I felt it in my own body too. My neck had been sore for a week with no explanation. One process later, it eased. My body had been holding something the conversation kept missing.

So the question is not what is wrong with me. It is: are you listening to your body, or only to your mind? Because the mind will keep negotiating. The body already knows.

So if you have been circling something, an event, a conversation, a decision, you are not behind. Your nervous system is doing its job.

We all know what kind of life we would love to be living. Not everyone is ready to go after it yet, and that is allowed.

Be the most regulated person in the room. And live abundantly.
